Terry Shockley District Governor 2008-2009 Rotary Club of Frankfort
Terry is a member of the Frankfort Rotary Club, Frankfort, Kentucky, where he has been a member since 1980. He served for three years as an Assistant Governor for an eight clubs Area. He served as president of his club during the 2001-2002 Rotary year. Previous club service includes the positions of Director of Club Service, Director of Vocational Service, Director of Community Service and Membership Chairman, as well as chair of New Member Orientation. He has 27 years of perfect attendance with the Frankfort Rotary Club. He has served as the District Chairman of the Annual Program Fund and also served as Director of Operations for the 2003-2004 and Chairman of Registration for the 2006-2007 District Conferences.
Terry is originally from Scottsville, Kentucky, and is a graduate of Western Kentucky University. He has recently retired from a private not-for-profit organization that provides vocational and employment services for persons with disabilities where he served as Executive Director for 28 years. He had previously served in professional and leadership positions in other Vocational Rehabilitation Programs, having managed both state operated programs as well as a National affiliated program to complete a 40 year career in programs serving persons with disabilities. His service included serving multiple terms as President of the statewide association of providers of vocational and employment services. He continues to share his professional experience in his service as a Governor for the Board of Directors of Goodwill of Kentucky.
Terry continues a 30+ year affiliation as a surveyor/consultant for an international accreditation commission that accredits rehabilitation programs primarily in the USA and Canada where he performed accreditation reviews in forty states. He also serves on a Governor appointed Statewide Council on Vocational Rehabilitation for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He has been involved in leadership roles in several community service organizations such as the Community Council, Home Health, and Pre-School Programs.
Terry and his wife Jo have three children, Kent, Tim and Ann, and seven grandchildren. They enjoy traveling and UK basketball. Also, Terry takes pleasure in hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. Both Terry and Jo are Paul Harris Fellows. |
