2008 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

What is RYLA? District 6710’s Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) is an intensive 4-Day training program for youth ages 14-15 who are in the 9th grade. Each club, with the help of counselors from their local school systems, nominates talented but potentially “at-risk” young people to participate. This event will help these promising young leaders living in District 6710 to learn leadership skills, communication skills, make new friends and HAVE FUN!! Each District 6710 Club is being asked to:- Recruit one primary and one alternate candidate for RYLA (see selection criteria for information);
- Submit a Club Registration Form accompanied by a check for $200 to sponsor your club’s candidate to RYLA (Make checks payable to District 6710 RYLA and mailed to Cathy Williamson, RYLA Secretary/Treasurer, PO Box 1599, Elizabethtown, KY 42702);
- Arrange transportation for the participant to and from the RYLA event (directions are available).
2008 RYLA participants will get to meet and interact with *Sport Stars* *Astronauts* *Rotarians* *Rotaract Members*
Criteria for Participants Participants must be freshmen in high school and be 14 or 15
years of age. Participants must have a 2.5 GPA or greater and have a good
attendance and discipline record. Participants should have one or more factors that qualify
them as At Risk. Participants should exhibit leadership potential. Relatives of Rotarians are eligible to participate. Participants must provide one recommendation from a past or
current teacher. Participants must reside in District 6710 and be sponsored
by a Rotary Club in District 6710.
