Now’s the time for your Club to plan a worthwhile humanitarian project and apply for a District Simplified Grant. For a few idea starters, check out IDEA STARTERS for your DSG Project.Humanitarian projects which improve the lives of the less fortunate -- especially projects dealing with hunger, health and literacy—will be given special consideration. The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday September 30, 2011.District Simplified Grants are awarded to a Rotary Club on a $1 for $1 matching basis – to promote humanitarian efforts within the Club’s local community, and in special instances, in international projects not covered by RI World Community Service (Rotary Foundation) funding; DSGs are intended to fund short-term, more modest endeavors.Projects cannot be started until the Grants Subcommittee has officially notified the Club of the DSG award.Approved projects must be completed not later than May 15, 2012 and a final report submitted to the District Grants Subcommittee not later than May 31, 2012.
