  "DISTRICT FINALS A SUCCESS"

 

 

LOUISVILLE ROTARY HOSTS DISTRICT FINALS

The Louisville Rotary Club hosted the 2012-13 District Speech Contest on May 9th, at their weekly Rotary

Meeting at the Galt House Hotel. Three Regional winners competed for the coveted $1,000 first place prize.

First Place Winner is Victoria Potter, center, Paducah Tilghman High School / Paducah Rotary Club. Others

pictured are (L to R) Stan Klausing, District Speech Coordinator,  Mckenzie Wislon, Franklin-Simpson High

School / Franklin Rotary Club, District Governor Don Dykman, Victoria Potter contest winner, Louisville Club

President Stuart Alexander, and Sam Dougan, North Oldham High School / LaGrange Rotary Club.  The two 

Runners-Up each received a $500 check.  Thank You Louisville Rotary for hosting this event.

EAST REGIONAL

The East Regional Contest was held on Tuesday April 23, 2013. 

Competing were Amanda Jack, standing to the right of her mother, Elaine.

Amanda represented the Prospect Goshen Club.  Also pictured is Sam

Dugan, standing to the left of his parents Kathy and Dan Dugan.  Dan

represented the LaGrange Club.  Dan will advance to the Finals as the East

Regional Winner.  Both Dan and Amanda attend North Oldham High School.

 

SPEECH CONTEST

The Bedford Rotary Club Hosted the East Regional Contest.

 WEST REGIONAL CONTEST

Cadiz Rotary hosted the West Regional Speech Contest on April 23, 2013.

Runner-up Kate Hart, Caldwell County HS (Princeton Club). 

 

 

 CENTRAL REGIONAL CONTEST

The Radcliff Rotary hosted the Rotary Regional Speech Contest on

April 25th.  Pictured with Club President Dr. Gail Phoenix, are Second

Place winner Drew Meaux from Mercer County 9th Grade Academy

and first place winner McKenzie WIlson of Franklin Simpson High School.

Drew plans to pursue medical studies at UK or Center College. McKenzie 

plans entering pre-med studies at WKU.

5.  LOU. METRO AT EAST LOUISVILLE SUNRISE

The Louisville Metro Sectional (Section 5) Contest was held on March 26th.

Competing (L to R) are Claire Ackerson - Louisville Rotary, dupont Manual HS;

Jacob Stout - East Louisville Sunrise, Christian Education Consortium;

John Paul Poole - Shelbyville Rotary, Corpus Christie Academy; East Louisville

Sunrise Club President Jason Richardson; First Place Winner Amanda Jack -

Prospect-Goshen, North Oldham HS; and Bradley Schwartz - St. Matthews Club,

Kentucky Country Day.

 

6.  BLUEGRASS AT SOUTH OLDHAM ROTARY

Six students competed at the Bluegrass Sectional (Section 6) speech contest.

Louisville

 The Louisville Rotary Club had 10 students compete from all

 around town. Front row center are the three contest winners

 (L to R)  3rd Place - Lexi VanHoover, Presentation HS, 1st

 Place - Claire  Ackerson, Manual HS, and 2nd Place - Kennedy

 Jackson, Atherton HS.  Students from Western, Presentation,

 Atherton, and Manual Competed. St. Matthews Rotary is hosting

a contest for four more applicants from the  Louisville Club.  

The Louisville Contest Chair is Mike Brumleve.

 

 

 

Paducah

 Rotary Speech winners all from from Paducah Tilghman - 1st Place:

Victoria Potter, 2nd Place: Meg Hancock, 3rd Place: Cade Perfili,

 4th Place: Will Hancock. Speech co-chairs wereTom Grassham and

 

 Caroline Roberts. Other Rotarians who volunteered – Mary Hammond,

Fulton

Fulton held their contest on March 12th.  (L to R)  Contest

Six students from four area high schools competed in the St.
