RYLA is an intensive leadership
training program for high school freshmen or sophomores ages 14-15. To participate, you must be sponsored by a local Rotary Club. If you are interested in applying, please contact a Rotary Club in your area. You can view a list of participating Rotary Clubs here.
Selected candidates will attend the program at the Wendell Ford Regional Training Center in Greenville, KY from September 15-18, 2011. Candidates will stay overnight and all meals will be provided.
Arrival Time: Candidates should
arrive by 5:00pm CDT on Thursday, September 15 for check in. Departure Time: RYLA will conclude by 3:00pm CDT on Sunday, September 18.
Parents and
Rotarians transporting students are encouraged to arrive at 1:30 p.m. to attend
our Closing Ceremony where awards and weekend project reports will be
given. All times are Central
Daylight Savings Time.

Exit 53, Greenville/Sacramento.Turn
left on KY 181 and follow signs to Ford Regional Training Center.
Candidates will need to bring the following items:
Sleeping
bag or sheets
Pillow
Toiletries
Bath
Towel
Prescription
Medications
Tennis
Shoes
Casual
Clothing (Dress Code:please be
appropriate.When in doubt, don’t!)*
*There
is no time in the schedule for doing laundry so bring enough clothes for the
entire weekend including Sunday.
Leave the following items at home:
Cell
phone (If you need to call home, staff phones will be available.)
Money
(EVERYTHING will be provided so there’s no need for cash.)
Electronic
devices of any kind (Ipods, MP3 players, etc.)
These
items will be confiscated and returned at the conclusion of RYLA. We
cannot take responsibility for any items that are lost or stolen.
Mediation: RYLA will not dispense medication of any kind, including aspirin.Students will be expected to take medication
on their own.
Behavior: Participants
will be expected to behave in an appropriate manner at all times.The standards for behavior will be the same
as those outlined in the Student Code of Conduct required for every student
enrolled in Kentucky public schools.In
addition, since this is an overnight activity, students will be expected to go
to bed and get up at the times designated in the itinerary for the weekend.There will be absolutely no fraternizing
between the boys and girls after lights out in the evening.Any major behavior infraction can result in
the student being sent home early from RYLA.
Participation: All
students will be expected to participate in all activities of the RYLA
event.Should a student have a valid
reason for non-participation in a particular activity, he or she will be
expected to remain with his or her designated group and act as an observer for
the event.
