2006-2007 Past District GovernorKay Sharon
Kay Sharon has been a member of the Elizabethtown Rotary
Club since 1991. She became active in
the club immediately, serving as bulletin editor her first two years. She continued to serve on the Board of
Directors in various service areas for the next four years and was installed as
president for the 1997-98 Rotary year. Following
her year as club president, she served the next two years as Area 4 Assistant
Governor. In addition, she was appointed
to the statewide (Districts 6710 and 6740) Rotary SPOKE/Votrek Board in 1998
and is still a member of that Board, now known as Rotary KCTCS Career
Awareness. Kay is a Paul Harris Fellow
and has attended every district conference since becoming a Rotarian and has
been to four international conventions.
A graduate of the University
of Kentucky with a BA in English and Western Kentucky University
with a MA in guidance and counseling and a Rank I in School Administration, Kay
retired in 2004 with 30 years of service with the Hardin County Schools where
she was a teacher and director of public relations. During her career in public education, she
served as president of two statewide professional associations and as a member
of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Association of Schools Administrators
for 12 years. In November, 2004, she was
elected to the Hardin County Board of Education and is currently in her second
year of a four year term. She also
serves on the Board of Directors of Lincoln Trail Psychiatric Hospital, on the
Hardin County Community Education Advisory Council, on the Education Program
Advisory Council at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
and on the Hardin County Crime Stoppers Board.
Kay lives in Elizabethtown
with her son, Matthew, a senior at Central
Hardin High
School, and her four dogs, miniature pinchers
Jagger, Jeter and Chopper and miniature dachshund Jack. Her daughter, Lindsey, lives in Campbellsville
with husband, Mark, and daughter, MaKayla. In her spare time, Kay enjoys spending me with
MaKayla, reading, watching TV, traveling and cheering for the Kentucky
Wildcats.
