Immediate Past Governor

2006-2007 Past District Governor
Kay Sharon

Kay Sharon has been a member of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club since 1991.  She became active in the club immediately, serving as bulletin editor her first two years.  She continued to serve on the Board of Directors in various service areas for the next four years and was installed as president for the 1997-98 Rotary year.  Following her year as club president, she served the next two years as Area 4 Assistant Governor.  In addition, she was appointed to the statewide (Districts 6710 and 6740) Rotary SPOKE/Votrek Board in 1998 and is still a member of that Board, now known as Rotary KCTCS Career Awareness.  Kay is a Paul Harris Fellow and has attended every district conference since becoming a Rotarian and has been to four international conventions.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky with a BA in English and Western Kentucky University with a MA in guidance and counseling and a Rank I in School Administration, Kay retired in 2004 with 30 years of service with the Hardin County Schools where she was a teacher and director of public relations.  During her career in public education, she served as president of two statewide professional associations and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Association of Schools Administrators for 12 years.  In November, 2004, she was elected to the Hardin County Board of Education and is currently in her second year of a four year term.  She also serves on the Board of Directors of Lincoln Trail Psychiatric Hospital, on the Hardin County Community Education Advisory Council, on the Education Program Advisory Council at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and on the Hardin County Crime Stoppers Board.

Kay lives in Elizabethtown with her son, Matthew, a senior at Central Hardin High School, and her four dogs, miniature pinchers Jagger, Jeter and Chopper and miniature dachshund Jack.  Her daughter, Lindsey, lives in Campbellsville with husband, Mark, and daughter, MaKayla.  In her spare time, Kay enjoys spending me with MaKayla, reading, watching TV, traveling and cheering for the Kentucky Wildcats.
