David WellerDistrict Governor 2006-2007 Rotary Club of Frankfort
Dave has been a member of the Rotary Club of Frankfort since
1992. He chaired the Special Projects committee creating the Frankfort Rotary
Youth Fund Foundation and setting up the Frankfort Club’s scholarship program.
He has led new member orientations, chaired the club Foundation Committee and
the Club’s By-Law’s Committee. He was club president in 1996-97 and Frankfort
Rotarian of the Year in 2003-04. Dave served as the District Governor’s Special
Representative in the creation of the Frankfort Capital Sunrise Club and served
as Fundraising Chair for the 2004 District Conference. Dave has been a Paul Harris
Fellow since 1995.
Dave has had a distinguished 30-year career at BellSouth. He
has been involved in everything from Finance to Information Technology to
Regulatory and External Affairs. He is also past chair of the Frankfort Area
Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass
and the Frankfort YMCA Board. He was a member of the Leadership Kentucky Class
of 1996 and has served as vice chairman of the Leadership Kentucky board. He
currently serves on the Women Leading Kentucky Executive Council, the Bluegrass
Tomorrow board and the UK Journalism School Advisory board. Dave also provides
training (Leadership, Creativity, Facilitation skills, etc.) for individuals,
teams or organizations through his consulting and training company, Weller Communications.
Dave also finds time to be a Visiting Professor at the University
of Kentucky in the College of Communications.
Dave is a native of Northern Kentucky, born in Covington. He graduated
from the University
of Kentucky in 1974,
majoring in computer science and math. He earned a Masters in Marketing and
Business Management in 1983. Dave is married to Vicki and they have two grown
daughters, Kim and Kari. In his spare time, Dave loves to golf, surf the net
and play his guitar.
